1. Service & operator
These Terms & Conditions govern this hosted edition of The Social Good Experiment, operated by Buddytown Consulting LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). “You” means the person using the service. The service includes the marketing website, browser-based tracker, member account, and features made available within this edition.
Read these terms before using the service or purchasing a membership. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms do not automatically replace separate agreements for other Buddytown products, the main socialgoodexperiment.com platform, or an organization’s separately contracted services. A separate signed agreement controls where it expressly provides different terms.
2. Accounts & eligibility
Self-service membership accounts in this edition are for adults aged 18 or older who can enter into a binding agreement. This edition does not provide child accounts or parental supervision controls. Do not create an account for a child or enter another person’s sensitive information without appropriate authorization.
Use accurate account information and protect your account and device. Hosted sign-in uses your ChatGPT account; use the same account to access your cloud records across devices. Your ChatGPT subscription and any SGE membership are separate services. Do not share account access, impersonate someone else, or access records you are not authorized to use. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Health & safety
The service supports personal recordkeeping, education, and reflection. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, clinical interpretation, or a clinician–patient relationship. Entries, charts, correlations, exercise examples, and summaries are not professional medical recommendations. An observed association does not prove that one factor caused another.
The service is not monitored for emergencies and does not promise to detect dangerous symptoms or readings. Do not rely on it for urgent help, medication decisions, or decisions that require a qualified healthcare professional. Seek appropriate professional care for health concerns and contact local emergency services in an emergency.
Choose activities appropriate to your circumstances. Exercise examples and walking goals are optional, not individualized prescriptions. Stop an activity if you feel unsafe. Keep your attention on traffic, terrain, and your surroundings rather than on your screen.
4. Food estimates, walking & other measurements
Food-photo recognition produces estimates. It may misidentify foods, portions, preparation methods, or nutrients and cannot reliably determine hidden ingredients, allergens, or contamination. Do not use photo estimates for allergy safety, medication dosing, or medical nutrition decisions. Check packaging, portions, and other reliable information when accuracy matters.
If automatic meal logging is enabled, a successful estimate may be saved before you review it. Such entries are identified as unreviewed estimates and can be corrected. Turning off automatic logging lets you review before saving. Unknown values are not necessarily zero.
Phone step estimates and GPS distance depend on device sensors, browser permissions, signal quality, and how the phone is carried. They are approximate and are not guaranteed to match a wearable or other device. This website does not offer reliable all-day or background step counting; tracking pauses when the page is hidden, and interruptions may leave gaps.
Review imported data, units, dates, and summaries. Daily totals you enter or import may take priority over totals from individual sessions to avoid double-counting. You are responsible for checking records before relying on or sharing them.
5. Memberships, prices & recurring billing
Free browser-only features and paid member features may differ. The membership page and checkout identify the features, price, currency, billing period, applicable taxes, and any promotion offered for your purchase. A displayed feature may require a supported device, third-party account, authorization, or an available connection. Do not assume a connection is active unless the service confirms it.
When you expressly enroll in a recurring membership, it renews and your payment method is charged at the disclosed monthly or annual interval until you cancel. Review the amount, billing frequency, and cancellation instructions before authorizing payment. Merely visiting this website, creating a draft entry, or using free features does not authorize a subscription charge.
Stripe processes checkout and billing when enabled. Stripe and payment providers have their own applicable terms. Any trial or introductory offer must disclose its duration, subsequent price, and cancellation deadline at enrollment; no trial is promised unless expressly offered. We will provide notices and obtain consent for renewals or changes where applicable law requires them. A price change will not retroactively change a completed purchase.
6. Cancellation, access & refund requests
You can stop future renewals through My account → Manage billing when a subscription is linked. Follow the cancellation steps and retain the confirmation and effective date. If you cannot access the billing controls, email info@buddytown.com for assistance. Include the email associated with your membership, but do not send passwords, full card numbers, or health records.
Cancellation stops future renewal charges. Access ordinarily continues through the paid period shown in your billing confirmation, subject to payment status and these terms. After paid access ends, new cloud saves and paid integrations may be unavailable; account controls can still allow you to download or delete your existing cloud copy. Browser-only records remain subject to your device’s storage.
Refund requests can be sent to info@buddytown.com. Cancellation alone does not promise a refund for a period already paid. Requests are considered under applicable law, the purchase terms presented to you, and any express refund promise. Nothing here limits a refund or remedy you are legally entitled to, including for an unauthorized or incorrect charge.
Deleting health entries, clearing browser storage, disconnecting a wearable, or stopping use of the website does not cancel a subscription. Cancel billing separately.
7. Your content, privacy choices & backups
You retain ownership of the entries and content you provide. You give us a limited permission to store, process, display, and transmit that content as needed to provide the features you choose, maintain the service, and meet legal obligations. These terms do not transfer ownership of your health records to us or give us a general right to publish your private entries.
Browser-only records are stored on the device and browser profile you use. Clearing storage, using private browsing, changing devices, or losing device access may remove access to those records. Cloud records are associated with your signed-in account. Uploading a local copy or connecting another service requires the applicable action in the app.
When you choose cloud food analysis, the selected photo and meal notes are sent to OpenAI for processing. The app does not save the photo in your health journal; it saves the resulting food entries and estimates you choose to log. Walking GPS coordinates are used temporarily in page memory to estimate distance; the saved walking record contains totals rather than a route. Third-party processing is also subject to the relevant provider’s policies.
Use Account & privacy and the tracker’s Data & privacy controls to review available download and deletion options. Exports may contain sensitive information and are not encrypted by the app. Keep backups and share them thoughtfully. No system is completely secure, and this service is not represented as a certified electronic medical record system or a HIPAA-compliant clinical service.
8. Connected services & external resources
Optional services, including payment processing, AI analysis, wearable imports, sign-in, and external help directories, depend on third-party availability and permissions. A connection may require its own account, subscription, or supported device. We do not guarantee that every provider, device, or feature will always be available.
You choose which supported accounts to authorize. Disconnecting an account stops the app’s use of its saved connection credentials; previously imported records remain unless you delete them. You may also need to revoke authorization with the provider. CSV imports are file transfers, not direct authorization to the original health-app account.
External organizations and resources are provided for your review, not as endorsements or guarantees of eligibility, availability, quality, or outcomes. Verify important details directly with the organization. A help directory is not an emergency response service.
9. Acceptable use
Use the service lawfully and respect other people’s rights. Do not upload unlawful content, malicious code, or content you lack permission to use; bypass access controls or usage limits; interfere with the service; scrape private data; impersonate others; or attempt to access another user’s account or records.
Do not use the service to make automated decisions about another person’s employment, insurance, credit, or access to essential services based on their health information. Business or provider use involving other people’s sensitive data requires an appropriate separate arrangement and permissions.
10. Site content & intellectual property
The website’s design, original educational materials, software, branding, and other operator-provided content belong to Buddytown Consulting LLC or their respective owners. You may use the service and its materials for the purposes provided with your access. You may download and share your own records and summaries.
You may not sell, redistribute, or commercially exploit our protected materials without permission, except as applicable law allows. Third-party names and trademarks remain the property of their owners and do not imply sponsorship.
11. Availability, suspension & termination
Maintenance, provider outages, unsupported devices, exhausted provider capacity, or other interruptions may affect access. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free outputs, or a particular health, fitness, financial, or personal outcome.
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risks, nonpayment, or legal requirements. Where reasonably practicable, we will give notice and an opportunity to address the issue. Immediate action may be necessary for urgent security or legal reasons. If a paid service is discontinued, applicable notice, refund, and consumer-protection obligations still apply.
You can stop using the service at any time, cancel any recurring membership, and use available data controls. Keep a copy of records you need before ending your access.
12. Responsibility & your legal rights
To the extent permitted by law, the service and its informational outputs are provided “as is” and “as available,” without a promise that they will meet every purpose or be free of errors. You should independently verify important information and keep appropriate backups.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, excuses fraud or willful misconduct, or waives mandatory consumer rights. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver, or a requirement that you give up access to a court or regulator. Applicable law determines the rights and remedies available for a dispute.
Please contact us about a problem so we can try to resolve it. Contacting us first is not a condition for exercising a legal right or meeting a legal deadline.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The effective date and version appear at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated where required, and we will request consent when required by law. Changes will not retroactively remove rights concerning an existing dispute or authorize a new charge without the required disclosure and consent.
If you do not agree to a change, you may stop using the service and cancel future renewals. Your existing statutory rights and any applicable purchase-specific terms remain protected.
